Peace & quietTwelve Apostles
Their favourite part of the road: the stacks appearing out of the sea as you walk the boardwalk, which wasn't busy at all on their visit.
“The boardwalk is well constructed and good for crowds, however it wasn’t busy at all when we were there.”

Getting aroundGreat Ocean Road
A visitor on their third trip, about to bring their boyfriend, says take the coast road rather than the inland highway. It adds hours, but the drive itself is the point. Lorne was their favourite stop.
“The drive alone is gorgeous if you dont want to stop in the little towns.”

The bad 5
Things to doKennett River
Kennett River is famous for koalas, but this visitor has never seen one there. They once drove the road slowly, waited an hour and left with nothing. Don't count on a quick sighting.
“We drove the Grey River Rd at 40km/h looking for them, stopped at the picnic ground for an hour and drove back.”

Getting aroundGreat Ocean Road
This visitor's view is that the road needs at least two nights, because one is too rushed. Come back inland via Colac rather than retracing the coast.
“The GOR really needs 2 nights. Anything less and it is rushed.”

Value for moneyOtways
The treetop zipline in the Otways cost $120 for two hours and about 90 seconds of actual ziplining. This visitor preferred a cheaper ropes course elsewhere.
“When I did it it cost $120, took 2 hours and actual ziplining time was 90 seconds.”

SafetyGreat Ocean Road
Kangaroos cross the road even in daylight. If you see one, slow right down.
“on a recent trip in daylight I saw roos on the GOR if you see any just slow down”
Tripadvisor forum · Jun 2019 · Read the original
WeatherTwelve Apostles
Bitterly cold and windy at the clifftops, but the views at sunset and sunrise made up for it.
“It's so cold and windy yet the view is to die for.”
