About
An open guide to honeymoons
honeymoon.wiki helps couples choose a honeymoon that fits both of them. It covers 83 destinations with sourced weather, visa and cost data, rates every month for honeymooners, and has a Matchmaker that two partners can play separately and then compare.
Editorial policy
Destination pages, collections and guides are written and maintained by the honeymoon.wiki editors. We work to these rules:
- Data before opinion. Weather ratings, best months, flight times and costs are computed from the same data for every place, and the method is published on our methodology page.
- Sources are named. Facts and titbits carry their source; datasets show where and when they were fetched.
- Estimates are labelled as estimates. Costs and trait scores are editorial estimates; flight costs are distance-based ranges, not live fares.
- Independent. No destination, hotel or tourism board pays to appear or to be ranked. The site carries no advertising or affiliate links today; if that changes, such links will be clearly labelled and will never affect rankings.
- Kept current. Pages show the date of their data. When rules change (visas, fees, closures) we update the data and every page that uses it.
Couples’ experiences
Destination pages include first-hand reports from couples who went: what they loved and what went wrong. We find them in public travel forums and reviews (Tripadvisor, Fodor’s and others), read the whole thread, and keep a report only when:
- It is first-hand. The writer describes their own trip, not advice they heard. Planning questions and agency “travelogues” are left out.
- It is recent enough. Nothing from before 2015. Each report shows the month of the stay or post.
- It is useful to a couple deciding. We keep the bad as well as the good, and we don’t trim complaints to make a place look better.
Each report is summed up in our own words, with a short quote and a link to the original. A script checks every quote word for word against the source text before the page is published. We don’t show usernames. A hotel named in a report is where something happened, not a recommendation or a warning about that hotel today.
