The good 5
Things to doHavelock (Swaraj Dweep)
Shore dives at a reef off Havelock with a local dive school. A short briefing and a practice on the beach were enough for complete beginners.
“All of us, first-timers in particular, thoroughly enjoyed our dives; what a beautiful ecosystem on display!”

Scenery & beachesRadhanagar, Havelock
Radhanagar beach had the greenish-blue water of the brochures. It's the busiest beach they saw, but still the place to swim.
“Radhanagar, an extremely pretty and one of the most popular beaches to get into the water”

Getting aroundPort Blair to Havelock
The private fast ferry from Port Blair to Havelock takes 2.5–3 hours and is comfortable. Book it rather than the government boats.
“This is fairly luxurious, with a/c, reclining seats, on-board cafeteria and TV/music entertainment.”

Scenery & beachesPort Blair and Havelock
They had been weighing Thailand and Malaysia for their honeymoon, chose the Andamans through a local agency instead, and had no regrets.
“why to go abroad when we have such a beauty in our country itself”

Hotel serviceHavelock (Swaraj Dweep)
A beach resort on Havelock with a candlelit dinner and scuba diving, and staff who treated them like family.
“All thanks to staff to making our honeymoon so special by caring us as their family member”
Honeymooners · Tripadvisor review · Mar 2015 · Read the original
The bad 3
Scenery & beachesNeil (Shaheed Dweep)
A day trip to Neil Island on a slow government ferry didn't live up to the hype. The famous rock bridge is on a beach of dead coral, and the beach by the jetty was strewn with plastic.
“Neil island, very hyped, turned out to be very disappointing.”
Couple with family · Team-BHP forum · Oct 2017 · Read the original
WeatherPort Blair
In October a storm brought heavy rain overnight, and the coast guard stopped the small boats to North Bay and Ross Island. They lost the day and the sound-and-light show.
“an active storm in the region hit Andaman the previous night bringing torrential rain”
Couple with family · Team-BHP forum · Oct 2017 · Read the original
Getting aroundBaratang
Baratang's limestone caves mean a road through a tribal reserve that only opens in timed convoys, and the queue at the checkpoint runs for kilometres. Expect a pre-dawn start.
“We were picked up at the hotel at 3am!”
