The good 4
Getting aroundGoa airports
Goa's state ride app, Goa Miles, works well from the airports at fair prices. Once you're at a hotel it's a different story (see below).
“Using Goa Miles from any of the airports in Goa is a breeze.”

Romance & privacyNear Anjuna
A private-pool villa near Anjuna, rented on Airbnb, ten minutes from the beach. Breakfast was included, and they ate lunch and dinner out.
“U will have a splendid ambience + a big private pool at your disposal.”

Food & drinkNorth Goa
A late-November trip in an apartment near Candolim, with a scooter hired for ₹350 a day. Their list: sunset snacks at Britto's shack, a Goan thali at Fat Fish, chicken cafreal at Florentine, and the old Latin quarter on foot.

Where they stayedCavelossim, South Goa
A big South Goa resort with beautiful grounds, plenty to do and very good food, until checkout and the taxi bill.
“The hotel grounds are beautiful and rooms are luxurious.”

The bad 3
Getting aroundGoa
Away from the airports, rides booked on the app often never came, because local drivers sign up to block it. For anything important, pre-book a trusted driver by phone.
“They will accept your ride when you book through Goa Miles, but will never turn up.”

SafetyVarca, South Goa
Their outside airport transfer wasn't allowed into the resort. When they loaded their bags up the road, local taxi men attacked the driver. Also watch the happy-hour bill: many drinks weren't included.
“a chair was thrown at the car and three blokes started punching our driver through the open window”
Tripadvisor review · Oct 2024 · Read the original
Touts & scamsCavelossim, South Goa
The resort's 'tourist taxi' charged more than ten times a city fare, and with no other cars allowed in there was no alternative.
“charges 2200 rupees for a 20 minute journey”
